Obama Calls for National Holiday in Honor of Chavez’s Birthday

CHICAGO, IL – Senator Barack Obama today released the following statement to commemorate Cesar Chavez’s birthday and express his support for a national holiday to honor Chavez’s success in “making America a stronger, more just, and more prosperous nation.”

“Today is Cesar Chavez’s birthday, and his life and legacy are important for us all to remember. From his beginnings as a farmworker picking lettuce and beets in the American Southwest, Cesar Chavez rose to help found the United Farm Workers, providing hundreds of thousands of people with better working conditions and the chance to live a better life. He proved what I have long believed – that together, ordinary people can do extraordinary things.

When some said he could not organize farmworkers and take on the growers, he said, “Sí Se Puede” - “Yes We Can.” It’s a philosophy of hope and aspiration that inspires us today.”

I am sure Hillary has a statement of her own, but since her people have no sense of humor and are boycotting this blog, I guess we will have to wait until some MSM types decide to mention that she loves Cesar more than Barack.

OK, so Hillary also loves César Chávez, at least so says Dolores Huerta:

Sanchez will play key role for Obama

Frank Sanchez, the Tampa businessman, former mayoral candidate and former Clinton administration official, has been tapped to be Barack Obama’s national chairman for Latino and Hispanic fundraising.

“I am proud to have the support of such an influential pioneer in the Latino community,” Sen. Obama said in a statement. “Frank will play a key role in reaching out to Latinos about our campaign’s vision to unite our country and expand our growing enthusiasm in the Latino community.”

So the Obama campo is making him head of some subcommittee or something. Sounds like something useful. At least that will teach you: never keep a Latino as an Assistant anything (especially transportation, wtf?) forever without upward mobility. We hate that crap. Hell hath no fury like a former Clinton Latino scorned.

Ok mi gente, this little endorsement thing is getting way out of hand. Can´t a brown guy endorse a black guy without a white guy getting all bent out of shape?

WASHINGTON — Hillary Rodham Clinton adviser James Carville is refusing to apologize for comparing New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson to Judas.

Carville made the comparison to The New York Times after Richardson, once a member of President Clinton’s Cabinet, endorsed Hillary Clinton rival Barack Obama last week for the Democratic presidential nomination. Carville called it an “act of betrayal,” and pointed out that it came during Holy Week.

“Mr. Richardson’s endorsement came right around the anniversary of the day when Judas sold out (Jesus) for 30 pieces of silver, so I think the timing is appropriate, if ironic,” he said.

We of course agree that Richardson, as a Hispanic, should have probably endorsed a blond, but if endorsing Obama makes him Judas, that means Hillary must be Jesús, and Bill Clinton Mary Magdalene and Janet Reno would be John the Baptist and Dick Cheney would continue to play himself, i.e. Lucifer.
