Torture is More Fun With White Guys

OK, so as you all know, this blog has never been a fan of our very own orgullo hispano, housepanic Alberto GONEzales, but it is certainly very interesting to note that while he was criticized, rebuked, protested and harassed for authorizing torture and ignoring the Constitution….

IF ONLY HE HAD BEEN WHITE maybe it would not have been such a problem… or just ask Chuck Schumer…

About GONEzales:

On question after question, on torture and nearly everything else, it almost seemed like Judge Gonzales was going out of his way to avoid answering us. He demonstrated a lack of straightforwardness and independence. For me, that is the straw which broke the camel’s back…

Time and time again, this Administration has gotten itself in trouble by trying to go it alone rather than doing business out in the open. Whether it was the Total Information Awareness Project, the TIPS program, or torture, they’ve been burned by their peculiar penchant for secrecy.

But this is just too significant a job at too important a time to have an Attorney General about whom I have such severe doubts.

Schumer vs Gonzales

I really have no choice but to, with sadness, vote “no”. (full document here)

Meanwhile

Following is the statement issued today by Senator Charles E. Schumer, Democrat of New York, announcing that he will vote in favor of President Bush’s nominee for attorney general, Michael B. Mukasey.

2 white guys in a senate office

I will support Judge Michael Mukasey for attorney general.

So there you have it, not speaking Spanish and being married to a blond, still doesn´t get you as far as you may think.

And Then They Ask Us Why We Drop Out of School….

Teacher arrested in Mexico, boy released

By OSKAR GARCIA, Associated Press WriterLEXINGTON, Neb. - A female schoolteacher was arrested in Mexico on Saturday and the 13-year-old boy she allegedly ran away with was turned over to his relatives, a prosecutor said.

Stay in School

Kelsey Peterson, a 25-year-old sixth-grade math teacher and basketball coach at Lexington Middle School, was arrested in Mexicali, a city on the border with California, Dawson County Attorney Elizabeth Waterman said.

That is what I call mentoring…
