As the number of Latinos facing the loss of their home continues to rise at a record pace, with some reports saying more people will lose their home this year than during the devastating Hurricane Katrina, President Bush today decided finally to talk about it.

Hey, I feel for you, homeys (or more like non-homeys, if you get my drift), the prez said, but no-can-do as far as any bailouts or government help is concerned. It’s not like you’re Chrysler or some S&L owned by Neil Bush, my brother or anything like that.

So there you have it. The compassionate conservative strikes again. And once again, we are so much worse off because of it.

Minorities Now Form Majority in One-Third of Most Populous Counties

In a further sign of the United States’ growing diversity, nonwhites now make up a majority in almost one-third of the most-populous counties in the country and in nearly one in 10 of all 3,100 counties, according to an analysis of census results to be released today.

The shift reflects the growing dispersal of immigrants and the suburbanization of blacks and Hispanics pursuing jobs generated by whites moving to the fringes of metropolitan areas.

“The new wave of immigration, along with its continued dispersal to the suburbs and Sun Belt, is transforming the places which are now being classified as multiethnic and majority minority,” said William H. Frey, a demographer with the Brookings Institution.

“The new melting pots are not large international gateways,” Professor Frey said, adding, “Rather, many are fast-growing suburbs themselves.”

In a new study for the Population Reference Bureau, Mark Mather and Kelvin Pollard found that Hispanic people were increasingly attracted to job opportunities and lower costs outside major metropolitan areas (aka suburbs!).

So there you have it! Latinos not only live near bodegas anymore. And you thought running to the suburbs was going to keep the brown people away…

So just when you though the most important trend was encouraging the Latino veto vote, turns out what the powers that be actually want us to do is buy the new Hispanic bottled tap water.

AND here I thought Hispanic was just a made up word by the Nixon Administration to stop calling us Spanish… turns out it is a type of WATER:

Aloe makes its move into Hispanic-focused water

8/7/2007 - Aloecorp has announced its aloe is now being used in a bottled water product set to initially target the growing Hispanic consumer market in the US.

Launched at the 2007 Hispanic Retail 360 Summit in Dallas, Texas, by the producers of Everest Premium Bottled Waters, the new product is called Everest Extra With Aloe. (What kind of Hispanic name is that? don´t they know that all self respecting Hispanic immigrants have a “painting” of the swiss Alps in their house?, not Everest)
