Redstone Family Woes: Now His Marriage

Sources tell me that the 84-year-old Redstone wants out of his four-year-old marriage to 44-year-old schoolteacher Paula Fortunato. “He’s asked her to leave the Beverly Park house, and she won’t leave. It’s a Mexican standoff,” an insider explained to me.

I’m told she signed one of those iron-clad prenups and would only get $1 million if the marriage breaks up. “He’s not happy in the relationship, and he has not been happy for a while,” a source told me. “I don’t think it’s going to last for too long.”

Last summer, Fortunato suddenly took on a higher profile in Hollywood when she influenced Redstone to end Tom Cruise’s production deal at Paramount, reportedly over the actor’s couch-jumping behavior on Oprah and his Today Show denunciation of Brooke Shields for taking drugs for postpartum depression.

Redstone admitted his wife’s role in the decision to Vanity Fair: “Paula, like women everywhere, had come to hate him. The truth of the matter is, I did listen to her. His behavior was entirely unacceptable to Paula and to the rest of the world.”

Well, I had no idea who this Latina was until she divorces a millionaire, but as they say, behind every rich old mogul, there is a younger woman after his money and empire….

El Pollo Rico Reopens After Illegal Immigration Indictment

Owner Hopes Restaurant Profits Will Pay For Defense (eat your pollo and contribute to a good cause)

WHEATON, Md. — The owners of El Pollo Rico reopened their restaurant Monday after they were indicted on charges of harboring illegal immigrants and hiding money from the federal government….

El Pollo Rico had been closed since a raid by federal immigration agents on July 12. Agents only allowed it to reopen after a new accountant was hired and the ATM authorities say was used to launder profits was removed.

By noon, El Pollo Rico was full, and there was a line of customers out the door waiting for service, Gordon said

I am sorry to see the magic ATM go, but hey they are hiring, and with the awesome new minimum wage hike by the democrats maybe I can quit my other jobs and go work there.

The world’s largest population of African descent is in Latin America, but you would never know that by walking down the aisles in local pharmacies and seeing the rows of “skin lighteners,” or by turning on the television and seeing all the blondes giving the news. The sense of denial about the presence of Black people is so obvious it’s almost funny.

But certainly not funny for some U.S. embassy employees in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic. Apparently sick of hearing the constant complaints from their African-American employees about being denied entry into a local dance club, the U.S. embassy has now prohibited any and all employees from patronizing the place.

The Dominican authorities naturally are disturbed that such a thing happens; clearly this is an isolated incident, they say. Aw, sure.

‘Course there are no Black Dominicans, just Haitians who happen by. And if you believe that, you’ll also believe the surge in Iraq is working.

Anyway, this row has caused quite the stir, and both countries are having top-level meetings about it. Who knew bachata was so inflammatory?

Finally some good border news:

Increased security at U.S. border turned away more Canadians in 2007

MONTREAL (CP) _ Tighter security at U.S. border crossings turned back more Canadians in the first half of 2007 than in the same period last year.

Since January, more than 30,000 Canadians were refused entry at American borders, Montreal newspaper La Presse reported Sunday. (I assume this report was in French, so who knows what it actually said)

That’s 5,000 more than in the first six months of 2006.

The report said the primary victims are citizens who were pardoned for crimes.

(Victims? Canadians with criminal records who can´t cross are victims? while of course Mexicans who can´t cross are presumed illegal aliens who want to steal our jobs)

Montreal businessman Pierre Sevigny was pardoned for a criminal record he gained by being part of a pyramid scheme in the 1980s.

Sevigny said he was turned back by customs officials at the U.S. border in March, despite crossing into New York without incident several times over the years.

“They interrogated me for an hour-and-a-half before telling me that I could not go through,” he said. (violins playing)
