Al GONEzales: Cebolla Style

It is that time again when I get some gringos with papers to do my job…. (viva copy-paste)

Attorney General Under Scrutiny

Lawmakers have raised questions about Attorney General Alberto Gonzales’ recent testimony to Congress, demanding a perjury investigation. Which of his statements are under scrutiny?

“I received my law degree from an accredited institution and not over the Internet at a cost of 14 dollars

“His argument that the Jimmy Farrar–fronted Molly Hatchet albums are, legally speaking, far superior to the Danny Joe Brown albums
Repeated claim that, according to the U.S. Constitution, the Attorney General is allowed 34 lies a year
Attorney General Under Scrutiny
Saying that his old ‘96 Corolla had a brand new water pump and had suffered only minor body damage

Maintaining that he gets the Antonio Banderas comparison all the time

Contending that none of the fired attorneys wanted to work at the Justice Department anyway

“This is getting blown way out of proportion”

Brown-on-Brown Attack!!!

California congressman Xavier Becerra, a former state deputy attorney general (who knew?!) is one of the co-sponsors of a resolution looking to impeach Attorney General Alberto GONEzales for his role in that whole big controversy about those U.S. attorneys who were fired.

The resolution basically says that since the White House isn’t doing anything about it, Congress definitely will. The entire House, backed by House Speaker Pelosi is totally for this, and there’s a vote expected as early as TODAY! Then the Senate, with matching enthusiasm and applomb, with take it up TOMORROW, forcing the prez to tell our favorite HOUSEpanic “lárgate” to where you came from. Um, Watch it go nowhere.

But just in case, here’s the whole thing in glorious legalese, courtesy of the main sponsor, Rep. Jay Inslee of that other Washington.

His beautiful papi chulo smile belies the nastiness that this issue has become.

Gawd, I almost forgot myself. Paying attention to that bonbón from a different time zone…Back to my original point. Yeah, so like I was saying, some brown guy (Becerra) wants to get rid of some other brown guy (GONEzales).

Now you know.

Xavier Becerra is Not in Favor of Torturing Harriet Miers

Since la Neta is apparently already busy doing other stuff instead of updating this blog, It is up to me, once again, to keep you all informed about some of the latest doings of our illustrious leaders.

In this case, a nice audio with Xavier Becerra, informs some rowdy people that he has no intention of torturing Harriet Miers, (now you can find it on your own, even if you have to listen to the whole thing)

Rep. Becerra responds to constituents asking him to support impeachment of President Bush at a recent “Coffee With Your Congressman” meeting in Eagle Rock.

Audio here

Oh yeah, and like the rest of the coconut caucus, he is in love with Nancy Pelosi…

Xavier y Nancy, que lindos

Bienvenida a La Neta

As our dozens of readers know, La Bloguera (moi) has at least one job that takes away from the valuable time I could spend keeping this blog up to the minuto.

AND until I get a sponsor who will pay me lots of money (I take pesos) or a family member to send me remesas, to maintain this blog, I will have to find alternative solutions, and in this case it means recruiting La Neta, who will add her valuable 2 centavos to the grandiose Adventures of the Coconut Caucus.

(of course as blog administrator and HTML expert, I retain all veto and censure powers, but she knows to much about my private life to exercise my full executive privileges)

She has great insight, knowledge, non-binding sources and much experience with our illustrious leaders and it is about time she starts blogging instead of just complaining every time she sees a typo on this blog.

(Bonus: She can spell!!!!!)

BIENVENIDA!!!!!

Note from Ken Salazar to the Hispanic Media: Mute Your Damn Phone!!!!!

Some time ago…. when immigration was the only topic in the Senate, Senators Bob Menéndez and Ken Salazar, held a phone press conference which ended in total chaos…

According to our nonbinding sources and the audio (which I need to figure out how to upload), there were people talking on the phone at the same time as the Senators, there was background audio from people´s offices, questions were randomly asked at the same time, and even a super minor “disturbance” between some snotty gringa reporter that wanted all the questions to be asked in English, and a Hispanic media type who needed audio in Spanish, even if it was speaker phone crappy audio.

So apparently this was all duly noted and there will be change in Washington:

U.S. Senator Ken Salazar

FOR PLANNING PURPOSES

Sen. Salazar to Discuss His Efforts on Children’s Health Insurance and Veteran’s Mental Health

WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, the Senate is working on completing a package that works to expand health insurance coverage for children. With over 180,000 uninsured children living in Colorado , Senator Salazar supports expanding the children’s health insurance program. Under this legislation Colorado would receive $127 million for the program in 2008, providing $56 million more to Colorado than last year.
