So while they meet and “discuss” pobrecita Paris Hilton… it is up to a white woman to defend minorities

Well, the Republicans in the Senate once again impeding Latinos from making history, so now Alberto Gonzales will not become the first Hispanic ever to get a No-confidence vote in the Senate, all because of that cloture thing again (every thing seems to need 60 votes these days)….

In case you were wondering… Ken Salazar voted in favor of proceeding to debate, i.e. against his ex-amigo, as did Menéndez. Mel Martínez voted to block the vote, and Obama didn´t vote at all.

Now we already know that the Senate is unable to deal with pressing national issues like 12 million people without papers and the future of American immigration, but apparently they are unable to pass even nonbinding symbolic legislation… What next? They won`t be able to name Post Offices or pass resolutions condemning world tragedies like a tsunami or express the … ?

Meanwhile, GONEzales pretends like he has no idea what the Senate is up to… then again he is in Third World Country Miami, maybe they don`t get CSPAN down there…

The attorney general said he was paying no attention to the rhetoric on Capitol Hill.

“I am not focusing on what the Senate is doing,” Gonzales said at a nuclear terrorism conference in Miami. “I am going to be focusing on what the American people expect of the attorney general of the United States and this great
Department of Justice.”

Nuclear terrorism in Miami? I assume they mean terrorists like Luis Posada Carriles… (Thank God he didn`t get a nuke)

I don´t know why all those pro-immigrant groups where complaining about the militarization of the border with México… because it is actually helping migrants get across:

LAREDO, Texas (AP) _ Three National Guardsmen assigned to the Texas-Mexico border were accused of running an immigrant smuggling ring after 24 immigrants were found inside a van one of them was driving, the U.S. Attorney said Monday.

The three, arrested late Thursday and Friday, were arraigned Monday on the federal charge of conspiring to transport illegal immigrants.

Pfc. Jose Rodrigo Torres, 26, and Sgt. Julio Cesar Pacheco, 25, both of Laredo, and Sgt. Clarence Hodge Jr., 36, of Fort Worth were arrested near Laredo.

It gets better, they were charging less than market rate, undercutting private coyotes, I think the Pentagon could follow their example and outsource to them instead of overchargers like Halliburton….
