Man born in 1901 becomes U.S. citizen

MIAMI - A 105-year-old Cuban-born man who had at least one pending wish finally had it fulfilled — he became a U.S. citizen.

Jose Temprana celebrated by sipping champagne with friends at the Hispanic Community Center in Miami on Friday.

“I feel different,” said Temprana, who served 30 years in Cuban jails. “Satisfied, very happy. It was worth the wait.”

Temprana has the vitality of a younger man. Nicknamed “El Niño” (The Boy), he rides his scooter to the store to play the lottery, rolls his own cigars, drinks whiskey with neighbors and has a girlfriend.

Meanwhile the one who should be deported….

Much to say about the cowards in the Senate who can`t get anything done on immigration… or anything else… and while I am at it, I just want to point out that at least the immigrants of today are not massively killing off the natives and taking their land as those illegal pilgrims did… but anyway….

Se oponen a sepultar a un pastor porque esperan su resurrección

BOGOTÁ (AFP) - La familia de un pastor evangélico del norte de Colombia, cuyo cadáver fue hallado en un salón de su casa cuatro días después de muerto por la denuncia de malos olores de vecinos, dijo este miércoles que se opone a que lo sepulten, pues espera que resucite.

La esposa del religioso, Luz Estela Pulido, dijo a Radio Caracol que conservó el cádaver de José Rafael Gómez en la vivienda porque él le había pedido que no lo sepultara porque iba a resucitar. “Él había hecho un pacto con Jehová y sabemos que se va a cumplir” dijo la mujer.

Las autoridades hallaron el cadáver en uno de los salones de la vivienda, que era usada además como sede de la iglesia Buenas Nuevas de Sión, en una barriada del balneario de Cartagena (1.090 Km al norte de Bogotá), tras ser alertados por vecinos que se quejaban de malos olores.

Pulido dijo que su esposo se sintió mal el jueves y murió en la madrugada del viernes. “Él me dijo en caso de que yo muera, no me saques de aquí, porque el señor Jesucristo me tiene que levantar”, añadió la mujer, quien dijo que todavía espera se cumpla el pacto.

Autoridades de Cartagena dijeron que pondrán a disposición de la familia ayuda psiquiátrica mientras el cadáver permanece en la morgue local, adonde fue trasladado.
