Guess what? Sometimes bloggers get out of their pajamas and go to actual events with the important Hispanics like the attorney general, Alberto GONEzales.

So here is the rundown:

First I must congratulate the Press Club for doing a great job at sensitivity by serving a Tex-mex breakfast, I assume it was because the first Hispanic AG was speaking, what a nice Cinco de Mayo touch. Yes, they had refried beans, chilaquiles, plátanos and such, even thought we had to ask for the Tabasco sauce because they forgot that VERY IMPORTANT detail…. AND by the way, here is a nice cell phone pic of the evidence.

Desayuno con GONEzales

So back to the real reason we are all here. As Gonzales was introduced and about the speak an activist lady stood up and shouted stuff about how he should resign as a dishonor to the country, constitution and such. Se was quickly escorted out by secret service types and the “media” there didn´t even blink and neither did Alberto who started right into his prepared remarks about how DOJ is fighting crime and gangs and our youth are at risk, and he gave some stats and a bunch of other information no one was interested in…

so finally the questions… they were more fun than any hearing so far, I will copy the whole transcript, but who has time to read so here is my summary: (I just want to add that he spoke about the whole scandal in past tense, like it was some episode that was over, and he is on a totally new page)

Anything bad that happened at DOJ is the fault of the guy who just resigned and Alberto really is not involved in anything at the Justice Department, he just shows up there and pretends to work

The reason he can´t remember anything is because “that week” in which the federal attorney thing went down, he was in México

He and Karl Rove did talk about the voter fraud cases and Rove was “concerned”

U.S. attorneys are part of the presidents “team” and should follow his priorities

The Geneva Conventions are still outdated and the Abu Ghareb scandal was all because of some crazy people on the night shift

He has a personal relationship with Bush and he does say NO to the Decider in the Oval office (but he wouldn´t say when or about what)

He works for Bush and won´t resign unless the Decider himself asks him too

SO now for the full length version…
