CBS3 news anchor Alycia Lane is using the “just friends” defense in response to revelations she recently e-mailed pictures of herself in a bikini to married NFL Network anchor Rich Eisen.

“Rich Eisen and I have been good friends for almost 10 years and our relationship has always been purely platonic,” said Lane in a statement released by the Philadelphia-based TV station.

“We regularly exchange e-mails and photos. It’s unfortunate that there was a misunderstanding over some harmless pictures of myself and my friends on vacation that I shared with him.”

A nice email exchange with the wife followed…

Lane is lucky that Eisen’s wife is not Latina. Imagine your average Puerto Rican woman catching her husband getting pictures from other woman in their bikini? Cancletas and frying pans would have been flying everywhere.

As we know Bill Richardson López, has been runing as an “American” candidate and not as a “Hispanic” candidate… and guess what?
He is totally succeeding!!!!!!

According to recent polls, most Latinos have no idea who he is and most people have no clue there is a Mexican runing for president.

(Of course this does not apply to the dozens of readers of this blog who know his every move)

More than half of Latino voters in 23 states said no Latino was running for president. Only a quarter recognized Richardson as a Hispanic in the race.

The survey of 1,000 voters was conducted during March by Lake Research Partners, a nonpartisan polling firm. It found Hillary Clinton to be the favored Democratic candidate among Latino voters, with 60 percent saying they would vote for her while 9 percent favored Richardson.

Richardson ran into a bump on that front recently, when he said he hadn’t initially called for the resignation of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales because Gonzales is also Hispanic. Richardson said he wanted to give Gonzales the benefit of the doubt, and he was speaking candidly and not as a “blow-dried” candidate.

When Richardson first ran for Congress in New Mexico, political consultants urged him to use his mother’s maiden name, Roberts said. “But he told them Richardson-Lopez wouldn’t fit on a bumper sticker,” Roberts said. (It does fit if you have a pick up)

So who will go down first? Hispanic who favors torture and can`t even remember his middle name or neocon who gets hundred of thousands of dollars for his girlfriend but can´t afford a pair of socks?

Some interesting news from Nevada….where apparently the new strategy to get the Hispanic vote has to do with translating the word Caucus (loosely translated a Coco or coconut for our purposes)

Nevada Democrats Woo Hispanic Voters

There is no Spanish word for “caucus” and that is just one of Andres Ramirez’s problems. The 29-year-old outreach director is responsible for selling the Nevada Democratic presidential caucus to the state’s large and underrepresented Hispanic population.

“This thing is hard enough to explain in English,” Ramirez said. He is working with the party’s translator _ its first ever _ to establish a glossary of caucus terms and a consistent message to Spanish speakers. (We hope this blog is duly informed so that we can use the appropriate terms in the future, and let me just save you the trouble of having to pay someone and just give you the term at no extra charge: BANCADA, any online dictionary has it…. )

The tactic is one of several the party hopes will better engage the Hispanic community, which has a history of shaky electoral performances in the state.

And if you thought that was bad…. it gets worse… if translating caucus doesn´t work there is always soccer.

In September, “mock caucuses” are scheduled to walk high school students in Hispanic communities through the caucus experience, though participants will pick their pop star of preference, rather than presidential candidates.

In addition, there are plans for a Nevada Democratic Party-sponsored soccer team _ Los Democratas _ to play in one of Las Vegas’ several competitive and largely Hispanic adult leagues. Just off the sidelines, there will be a registration table with materials and banners.

hmm I wonder what that would look like…..
