US frees convicted bomber wanted by Cuba, Venezuela

EL PASO, United States (AFP) - Former CIA operative Luis Posada Carriles, wanted by Cuba and Venezuela for the deadly downing of a Cuban jet, has been freed on bond in Texas, police said Thursday.

“He was out of here this morning,” Jerry Payan, a police officer in charge of inmates said, after Posada paid 350,000 dollars to be released pending trial May 11 for immigration fraud and other charges.

Posada Carriles, a fierce opponent of communist Cuban President
Fidel Castro, was convicted of masterminding the downing of a Cuban jet off Barbados in 1976 in which 73 people were killed.

He was detained in Venezuela in 1976 and convicted in the case, but fled prison in 1985.

He was also sentenced to eight years’ jail in Panama in a bomb plot to assassinate Castro during an Ibero-American summit there in 2000, but was pardoned by outgoing president Mireya Moscoso.

You know he is bad, when even the Miami Herald writes stuff like this...

Jackass called into court… and we are not talking about the lawyer

DALLAS - The first witness in a lawsuit Wednesday between two neighbors was Buddy the donkey, who walked to the bench and stared at the jury, the picture of a gentle, well-mannered creature and not the loud, aggressive animal he had been accused of being.

The donkey was at the center of a dispute between oilman John Cantrell and attorney Gregory Shamoun that began after Cantrell complained about a storage shed Shamoun was building in his backyard in Dallas.

He said Shamoun retaliated by bringing Buddy from his ranch in Midlothian and putting him in the backyard.

Cantrell complained of donkey noise and manure piles.

Maybe next year he participate in the burro pageant in Colombia.

Obviously none of these apply to me, so I haven’t been able to satisfy my dozens of readers with my pertinent thoughts in the last few days… but I will make a nonbinding promise to do better…

Now, despite the fact that Gonzales was sparred for a few minutes from his hearing because of the Virginia Tech massacre, we predict, after watching a few seconds of his hearing, that he will soon be spending more time with his family.…

And obviously I am not the only one to see the relation between these two events…

About Virginia Tech, thank God it wasn’t a Latino, we have more than enough with the Padilla coverage, but since it was an immigrant we predict a backlash anyway…. because as we know 911 was perpetrated by mostly Saudis with visas, but the backlash has been against Mexicans without papers…
