Just when you thought Henry Bonilla was out of Washington… he is back as a pretend ambassador to nonbinding hemispheric organization OAS.
Hopefully this time he won´t try to name anything after Ronald Reagan like he did last time around,
AND BTW, I should mention that Bonilla called it on Iraq the last time he was in town:
The war with Iraq started on March 20, 2003 and lasted just over six weeks. A senior member of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, Congressman Bonilla is a long-time supporter of the nation’s armed forces.
I usually don´t give more than 2 seconds of attention to those random “personnel announcements” the White House sends, but this time he was the first one on the list:
For Immediate Release March 15, 2007
The President today has nominated five individuals and intends to appoint ten individuals to serve in his Administration:
The President has nominated Henry Bonilla, of Texas, to be Permanent Representative of the United States of America to the Organization of American States (with the rank of Ambassador). Representative Bonilla is a former Member of the United States House of Representatives.
Before serving in Congress, Representative Bonilla spent fifteen years in the television news business. Representative Bonilla received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas .
Of course the press release doesn’t mention that Bonilla was voted out of office amid a swirl of scandals, defeated by none other than Zero Rodríguez.
So for those of you who have never heard of the OAS, a token international organization for friends of Latin American political leaders who want to live in the U.S., its headquarters is like a block from the White House.
And who better than someone like Bonilla, friend of money laundering Tom Delay and felon Jack Abramoff, to mingle among equally corrupt Latin American diplomats with nothing better to do than create an infinite number of committees, and give long speeches that aren´t even covered by C-span.
AND btw, we predicted this would happen way back in January
