Just when you thought it was over, again…Despite all reports that Loretta Sánchez quit the Hispanic Caucus, we exclusively received a mass press release today, from the “Caucus”, which lists all the members in the Caucus… including Loretta.

And the best thing about the list, is that it said “updated”
She cannot quit us!!! And Baca cannot quit her.

As Hispanic Caucases are desintegrating by the minute, we are pleased to announce that a new one has just formed (17 years ago)!!!!

Under the name of Senate Democratic Hispanic Task Force (HTF) which has 2 co-chairs and no members, Bob Menéndez and Ken Salazar will: build a bridge between the Hispanic community and the Senate Democratic Caucus by promoting important policy issues.

We are sooooo excited about this, and so is Menéndez:

“With more Hispanics serving in the U.S. Senate than ever before (3), this is indeed an historic opportunity for Hispanics and for our nation,” Menendez said.

Considering this caucus, Task Force has 2 male members, both Senators, gives it a better chance of survival… However we are keeping our fingers crossed.

UPDATE-CORRECTION: One of our alert readers has pointed out, that this is not a new group, despite our total lack of awareness of it. It was formed way back in 1989 by gringo Senator Jeff Bingaman of New México, and actually has members, other than the 2 co-chairs.

They also have a website that says Joe Lieberman is in charge.

Once again, Latinos are being misrepresented in the mainstream media.

The latest, is ex-caucus chair, Grace Napolitano who is being called a bigwig.

As caucus telenovelas turn, we have been ignoring our favorite candidate, Richardson López, despite the fact that he has been super active, at the international, federal and state level.

So before someone else quits the Caucus, a Richardson update on the important topic of cockfighting. Apparently now, Governor Richardson would support a ban, making legislators faint.

Sen. Mary Jane Garcia …is determined to prevail this year in the annual effort to ban cockfighting. And with the help of at least one powerful friend, she might well succeed.

Gov. Bill Richardson recently announced he’ll support the ban, after being undecided throughout his first term.

“I almost fainted, I was so elated” by the news, she said.

But it may not be over, because of “rural rights” issues, and because it has been there forever, just like people crossing the border.

“It’s been here way before New Mexico became a state. There’s no reason to outlaw it except for the animal rights people,” said Ronnie Barron, president of the New Mexico Game Breeders Association.

“Why do you want to make people into criminals who aren’t?”

Now I know he is runing for presidente and all, but even a diplomat can’t please everybody and before you know it he could be called a chanquletero flip flopper.

We are still not over the Loretta Sánchez vs Joe Baca name calling telenovela, when we are informed of another spat in another Hispanic Caucus that we didn´t even know existed.

Apparently the Democratic National Committee has a token, nonbinding and symbolic entity called the DNC Hispanic Caucus (not to be confused with the original Coconut Caucus minus Loretta).

Anyway, Alvaro Cifuentes, has resigned from it after a heated argument with an black guy he called “boy”.

Cifuentes was attending the DNC’s winter meeting in Washington, D.C., on Friday when he and the aide got into an argument.

It’s not clear what started the fight, but sources said Cifuentes called the aide, who is black, “boy” twice during the confrontation, and two conference attendees were alarmed enough to try and restrain Cifuentes.

So move over Joe Biden, we got our own racists, and they don´t even have to be white.

Cifuentes, formerly known as thief chief of staff of Pedro Rosselló, most corrupt boricua governor ever, defended himself saying he was a poor jibaro from Puerto Rico and had no idea of the derogatory usage of “boy” in the United States, (But he obviously knew to use it in a heated argument against aforementioned black guy, actually named, Matt Duggent).
