In deep guacamole

Who knew avocados where that valuable? but then again on the east coast they sell them for like 3 dollars a piece.

VENTURA, Calif. AP- A trucking company owner and two employees could be in deep guacamole. Ventura County authorities charged them with grand theft and criminal conspiracy after a three-week investigation into the theft of more than $700,000 worth of avocados this past growing season.

Florentino Castaneda, 38, the owner of Castaneda Trucking, and employees Fortunato Mendoza, 46, and Francisco Ponce, 32, all residents of Ventura, were arrested Nov. 9 and prosecutors filed charges.

Cashmere sweaters and Godiva are needed for democracy in Cuba

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. funds intended to promote democracy in Cuba have been used to buy crab meat, cashmere sweaters, computer games and chocolates, according to a U.S. congressional audit published on Wednesday. The survey by the Government Accountability Office found little oversight and accountability in the program, which paid out $76 million between 1996 and 2005 to support Cuban dissidents, independent journalists, academics and others.”

And you thought democracia had to do with elections and nasty campaign ads…but at least the disidentes won´t have to go without their Godiva.

“Juan Carlos Acosta, executive director of Miami-based anti-Castro group Cuban Democratic Action, told the Miami Herald he sent those items to Cuba, “These people are going hungry. They never get any chocolate”

Border agents say man hid 7 pounds of cocaine in guitars

HIDALGO (AP)— Federal Customs and Border Patrol agents arrested Heriberto Quinones-Juarez at a Texas border checkpoint after they said they found nearly seven pounds of cocaine in his two electric guitars.
