Mario Diaz-Balart Gets Made Fun Of For Acting Cuban

Hilarious! Seems like he was just being his excited self as if someone had mentioned the words “Fidel” and “died.”

Obama Camp Uses Bilingual Robots To Call You During Dinner

The latest in the get-out-the-brown-vote efforts comes to us via phone just in time to disturb if not your dinner, then at least the greatest contribution Telemundo has made since Destilando Amor.

Yes my not-McCain’s friends, Obama will be robotically calling you in English and en español to tell you how much he hearts you and needs your vote. And the Las Vegas Sun dedicated such a large space to this that we have to include it all:

Democrats announce new robo calls aimed at Latino voters

Barack Obama’s Nevada campaign office today announced it will be making a series of telephone “robo-calls” for Latino voters in response to what it says are “disturbing” calls aimed at Latino voters that tell them they can vote by phone.

The Democrats said their robo-call messages, which will be in English and Spanish, will encourage Latino voters to cast their ballots in person, either by voting early or at polling places on Election Day, Nov. 4.

Party leaders said the robo-calls that were encouraging Latino voters to vote by phone have been reporterd to the Nevada Secretary of State. Democrats charge that the calls were similar to those made during the 2004 presdidential election to Latino voters in Florida.

Here is the text of the robo-call script, which was recorded in both English and Spanish:

I’m calling because I wanted to let you know that you can vote early any day from now until October 31st at an early vote site in your county. Some voters have received incorrect phone calls offering to help vote over the phone. Voting over the phone is not possible! For more information, call 1-877-OBAMA-NV.

OK fine I just wanted an excuse to post this picture. But come on, even as a robot the man looks good:

Chances of Winning Obama? One in 42 Million

Who cares about the Free Trade Agreement with Colombia, when you can WIN THE LOTTERY????

Yes, in one of my favorite countries, Obama gives hope to millions who will end up loosing their money.

BOGOTA (Reuters) - U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama might be betting he can win November’s election, but he could really hit the jackpot in Colombia.

A Colombian lottery seller has printed Obama’s face on tickets hoping to snag attention while celebrating Afro-Colombians with a nod to the Democrat’s African heritage.

Reproduction released by the Meta Lottery department, central ...

Less than two weeks before the election, street vendors and stores in steamy Meta province are selling the lottery stubs showing Obama smiling in a suit and tie. The average weekly top prize for the tickets — around $300,000 (that’s in pesos, my friends).

Loretta and Linda Sánchez’s Brother Believed To Be Dead

No joke here. It’s so very sad. Loretta and Linda Sánchez’s brother Henry Sánchez and his girlfriend Penny Avila are believed to be the dead found after a boat sank in Southern California…

Body found in sunken boat believed to be brother of Reps. Loretta Sanchez and Linda Sanchez

What happened that clear, moonless night in the Catalina Channel is still very much a mystery.

A Santa Ana couple were going for a midnight cruise to Santa Catalina Island, and a huge 128-foot barge was lumbering toward the Port of Los Angeles.

The Tacocalypse Is Here

Forget the market crashing more and more every day! The clear sign of the apocalypse is more and more carne asada and mango street vendors popping up!

And for those of you that want more ties, the Latino politics angle here is that Bill Richardson said some stuff on NPR about how Latinos matter (ha!) in this election/ in New Mexico, which shares the first half of its name with New York, which brings us to…

How Mexican brown can do way more for you, you white hipster! Because, you know, it’s way nicer to enjoy street tacos at 2 AM than it is to pay attention to the mariachis on the subway or the parking attendant.

Top 10 signs of the New York taco-over

Big Apple rings suddenly passé. How about Big Enchilada?

The spectacular rise of New York’s Mexican community in the past two decades is one of the most fascinating demographic stories in a city used to sweeping population changes.

From an official census count of about 61,000 Mexican-born city residents in 1990, city demographers estimate that there are currently about 350,000 New Yorkers of Mexican descent.

Mexican mothers had more city-born babies last year than Dominicans, which had been, up to now, the largest immigrant group in New York. The city has been transformed, one tortilla at a time.

So basically there’s more Mexican babies now. And of course, here’s their biggest contribution (aka non-threatening stuff white people like about Mexico):
