We of course were excited because it promised…

The ten voters selected for backstage access for Obama’s speech next Thursday represent the diversity of Obama supporters and come from all across the country.

But then we saw the list…. and we are very outraged, to see that no token Hispanics will get to have some Si Se Puede time with Barack.

Obama is going to Mexico!!!!!!!!

AND it is not for Cinco de Mayo. It will be in September close to the real Mexican independence day.

McCain already went, of course, and nobody noticed, except the important voters in Florida who also noticed that he went to visit right-wing paramilitary president Alvaro Uribe in Colombia, very popular in Third World Country Miami.

We all know that Obama will be forced to visit the headquarters of la Virgen de Guadalupe, like EVERY single person that lives or visits Mexico is. But the real question is will he meet with president Felipe Calderón, or non-binding presidente Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

The latest from the dog-and-pony show otherwise known as the Obaman Latino media outreach effort has the presumptive Democratic candidate giving a speech Sunday late morning (11am EST for those who live in exactitudes) at this year’s media conflagration, UNITY: Journalists of Color, or something like that. But hardly anyone will be there for the same old crap speech because they’ll be heading back to their homes around the country.

It all started as a nice idea. But like nice ideas with no planning involved, things ended up in the crapper. This being an election year and all, the journos of color figured it would be good to invite both Obama and GOP rival John McCain. So with much fanfare, the UNITY folks prematurely promoted a candidates forum that was supposed to take place earlier in the week.

As the Obaman Latino Listening Tour continues to putt-putt and sputter along, the candidate clearly figured he had hit the jackpot by stopping by at the 25th-annual National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials conference in downtown DC.

Hundreds of brown people were there, and surely he must have thought, whew, I can save so much of my non-public funding by talking here instead of having to go all over the country and try to figure out what’s the difference between, say, Mexicans and Puerto Ricans, or Guatemalans and Nicaraguans.

Which of course explains why he referred to Brownsville, Texas, as Brownville, Texas. He was, after all, in Brownville. At least in his mind he was.

His crack Latino media outreach team, MIA as per usual, wasn’t there to correct him.

The non-stop Obama lovefest with the Hispanic media continues, as we hear that the severely overworked Hispanic media outreach person who hardly ever returns phone calls and needs directions to find their way out of a paper bag will now have more time to do nothing.

Apparently they’re getting a much-needed helping hand from a press person on the Hill who has a well-known reputation for doggedly making their boss completely inaccessible to the press. And we know for a fact that this person’s command of Spanish is non-existent.

In other words, just the type of person you want for a presidential candidate who desperately needs the Latino vote.

It’s technically not official yet, so we’ll let the campaign itself announce who’s the Obaman mystery guest.

Of course, who knows when that’ll happen, so we’ll give you a hint: they are from where that tasteless yet thirst-quenching beer otherwise known as Coors is manufactured.

Meanwhile, the McCainers bring on board former RNC staffer Hessy Fernández as the campaign’s Hispanic media person.

The Cuba native is completely bilingual, returns phone calls ALL THE TIME and actually has something intelligent to say, and we hear that her favorite snack is mongo demócrata al pincho.
