Wednesday, April 02, 2008César Chávez Hailed by Hispanic Caucus( Washington , DC ) – Several Members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) were joined by other Members of Congress and organizational leaders this week as they recognized the life and work of César Chávez, a labor organizer and civil rights activist.
This week’s floor statements (surely not even C-span broadcast those) and press conference (not attended by any press) coincided with a week that shares both the anniversaries of his birth and death. Across the country, the week is being marked with celebrations in 65 cities in over 30 states, including statewide holidays in 10 states.
Specifically, they were supporting H. Res. 76, a Congressional non-binding resolution urging the establishment of a federal national holiday honoring César Chávez, and urging public schools to teach about his life and contributions. The resolution currently has 61 co-sponsors.
It totally goes on an and on as almost each Hispanic in Congress tries to prove that they love Cesar more than all the rest....

Yes it is that time of year again!!! Time for the SOTU drinking game Latino Version.
So basically it is a bunch of stuff I put up last year with a few modifications….
If Ileana Ros Lehtinen pushes her way to the front and kisses Bush as he is walking in: 1 shot of Havana Club.
For every female member of the Hispanic Caucus wearing red: 1 sip of wine cooler.
For every time the camera shows a Hispanic member of Congress sitting waaay in the back: 2 shots mezcal.
If Hillary Clinton yells Si Se Pueda: Black Label no ice.
If Bush mentions Al Gonzales (ancient history): Waterboard yourself and drink blood.
if he mentions Mel Martínez (favorite Pedro Pan): 1 shot of rum and toast to Fidel Castro’s health.
Every time he says: “American Dream”: 1 little botella of Bud Light. (same goes for temporary worker program, visa, border, immigration or any other derivatives).
If Bush says “al Qaeda” and Silvestre Reyes gets that blank look in his eye: 3 shots of aguardiente.If Bush mentions Latin America: Yeah right, you are watching the wrong channel.
.If Bush mentions Hugo Chávez: Help is on the way, eat an arepa and watch 7 hours of Aló Presidente.If the wounded/dead soldier Bush mentions has a Hispanic name: A sip of Pisco Sour.
Each time the camera shows the token Latino sitting with Laura Bush: Corona Light.
Every time the camera shows a Hispanic member and he/she is talking instead of listening: A round of margaritas for everyone.
Whenever Luis Gutiérrez boos Bush: A sip of leftover coquito and say: Paz para Vieques. If Nydia Velázquez joins in, add: Vieques para viequenses.
If Jorge Ramos starts talking about all the other SOTU’s he has covered: A sip of your Margarita and a toast to Lou Dobbs.
If Univision interrupts the speech to give an update on Thalia´s baby: 2 shots of José Cuervo.
If you didn’t even know the SOTU was on because you were watching la telenovela anyway: Drink some leche and buy yourself a set of “Inglés sin Barreras”.
If by mistake the C-Span feed goes to Spanish: Drink a whole bottle of tequila and yell: Viva México Cabrones!
When you realize that this is IT, FINALLY the LAST Estado de la Unión from Dubya, break out the CHAMPAGNE!!!! Salud
