Black Prez (elect) Meets Brown Neighbor Over Tortilla Soup

By La bloguera, January 13, 2009 7:55 am

So for the most ignored story of the day: Felipe Calderón is 3 feet tall.

U.S. President-elect Barack Obama (L) and Mexico's President ...
Reuters

Let me rephrase that: He is shorter than the American flag

President-elect Barack Obama meets with Mexico's President Felipe ... AP

He also had tortilla soup and looked at some paintings with Obama.

The topic of Mexico is so important that this is what pool reporters were concerned about:

1:53 addressed reporters just before in a large upstairs room decorated with rugs and tapestries. Each made a statement and took no questions. Obama also made a statement about TARP. Will send verbatim shortly and lunch details.

On TARP, Obama said he will refocus the second half of funds to do more on home foreclosures and for small business and consumer credit and increase accountability and transparency. He said he called President Bush to trigger the second half because it would be “irresponsible” to enter the White House without doing so and that “many of us have been disappointed with the absence of clarity,” lack of transparency and failure to do enough so far on foreclosures.

The Only Real Latino in Congress Alive and Well in Denver

By La Neta, August 25, 2008 9:14 pm
Ted Kennedy, Aug. 25, 2008

Sen. Ted Kennedy, recovering from treatment for brain cancer, brought the house down in Denver when he waltzed on stage to say hello and vote for Obama, por favor.

He looked better than that Delaware dinosaur Obama picked as his running mate.

More than the ENTIRE Congressional Hispanic Caucus combined, Kennedy has championed Latino issues in his decades in the U.S. Senate. Even Mexico thinks so.

So keep the novenas going to keep the community’s ONLY REAL LATINO IN CONGRESS healthy and in good spirits.

Joe Baca becomes presidente, but only in Spanish

By La bloguera, July 10, 2008 7:09 am

In the past we have, with good reason, mocked the internets usage of the coconut caucus et al, so imagine my surprise when I accidentally stumbled upon their new redesigned website which despite being soooo 20th Century is a vast improvement on their Page Not Found website.

Anyway, I was bored enough to wander to the “En Español” section and realized that while in English Joe Baca is merely the chair of the caucus, in Spanish he is promoted to “president” with TWO vp’s.

Check out what Grace Napolitano is in Spanish…

He may be presidente, but Baca is still only three feet tall…

The website has many more amusing features, but I am busy watching Obama and McCain pander to us…
