I Would Like to Congratulate Myself on the Nomination of my Brother

By La bloguera, December 17, 2008 2:20 pm

Move over Joe Baca...and all the Kennedy’s…We have John Salazar, who decided the world really needed his reaction to his brother’s nomination.

In case you were wondering, he is for it (and well if there is a Senate seat available… we don’t even have to change but half of the letterhead)

Colorado Rep. John Salazar says his little brother would make a terrific interior secretary.

John Salazar issued a statement saying Colorado Sen. Ken Salazar has the experience, knowledge and dedication to make an “extraordinary steward” of the nation’s public lands.

“I am proud of Ken,” the congressman said. “There is not a better choice for Interior secretary than my brother. His experience, his knowledge of water and land management issues and his love for the land will help ensure that Ken proves to be an extraordinary steward of the nation’s public lands.”

John Salazar says his brother is a good fit for the job because he’s worked as a water-law attorney, as director of the state Department of Natural Resources, as the state attorney general and as a U.S. senator.

Coconut Caucus Loses Another One to Obama

By La bloguera, December 17, 2008 1:39 pm

Yes mi gente,  apparently the Obama people have been mining this blog for great Hispanic talent for their change dream team.

So what we mentioned some time back is now official: (AND in case your were wondering George Bush the father named another Hispanic to that post back in the day, a guy called Manuel Lujan, Jr.

Obama Selects a Ranchero for Interior

CHICAGO — President-elect Barack Obama this morning introduced Colorado Sen. Ken Salazar as his appointee for Secretary of the Interior.

Obama’s appointment of Salazar comes in the wake of turmoil surrounding the current interior department, which has been accused of corruption, malfeasance and rendering decisions based on politics rather than science.

Obama said it was time for the department to “clean up its act” and vowed to move away from interior’s current emphasis on “big time lobbyists” rather than the public interest

If this nonsense continues, I will just have to come up with a new category for the Obama Latinos and their feats, but that would take a few clicks….

Stop Your Whining, Obama Names Another Latino

By La bloguera, December 15, 2008 8:51 pm

Ok mi gente, stop your complaining about Richardson not being Secretary of State, when you know Latinos luv Hillary way more, AND that is is only a matter of time before Richardson is hit with his bimbo problem and his pay to play politics in New Mexico.  (AND who can forget his support for UFOs)

So here it is, yet another democrat leaving the Senate, (Hanging out with Reid must really suck)

Salazar accepts Obama offer to join Cabinet

Sen. Ken Salazar is being vetted by Barack Obama’s transition team and will likely leave the Senate to become secretary of the interior, according to sources.

Salazar (D-Colo.) has been grappling with the decision of whether to accept Obama’s offer to become his interior secretary. After mulling it over for the last couple of weeks, Salazar has agreed to join Obama’s Cabinet.

News Sancocho: Airport lines, gay rights and a random picture

By La bloguera, November 25, 2007 9:30 am

In case you were wondering what your elected representatives have been up to lately….

Senator Ken Salazar doesn´t want to wait in line at the airport

“In my view, these waits times are unacceptable for the traveling public,” said Salazar, D-Colo. “I’ve personally witnessed lines snaking the equivalent of several city blocks at peak periods.”

Rep. Ciro Rodríguez not so sure about horse meat tacos…

“I personally don’t believe in all honesty that you can just put a ban on all that because there are people who do eat beef,” he said. “Like we eat beef, they eat beef, but it’s a horse meat.”

Rep Ileana Ros Lehtinen knows more than the rest of us about bombing Syria

Ileana Ros-Lehtinen is the senior Republican member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. They expressed their anger at the fact that the Bush administration ‘has thrown an unprecedented veil of secrecy around the Israeli airstrike. It has briefed only a handful of very senior members of Congress, leaving the vast majority of foreign relations and intelligence committee members in the dark. We are among the very few who were briefed, but we have been sworn to secrecy on this matter.’”

AND speaking of Cubans from Florida, all 3 voted against their party in favor of gay rights. Yes, 3 republican Latinos, and 2 of them male, voted in favor of protecting gays against discrimination…

Dixie Representatives Split on Gay Rights. When the US House recently passed the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), which extends job-related civil rights to gays, five Southern GOPers left their party and supported ENDA: FL: Lincoln Diaz-Balart, Mario Diaz-Balart & Ileana Ros-Lehtinen; LA: Jim McCrery; and VA: Tom Davis.

Rep Henry Cuellar paying attention to obscure district matters

“As a Congressman, I don’t do investigations,” Cuellar said. “I do make inquiries, and I surely have made inquiries into this … . My understanding is that there is already some investigation going on.”

AND Nydia Velázquez appeared in this photo

Nydia guat are yu doin?

Note from Ken Salazar to the Hispanic Media: Mute Your Damn Phone!!!!!

By La bloguera, August 1, 2007 7:41 am

Some time ago…. when immigration was the only topic in the Senate, Senators Bob Menéndez and Ken Salazar, held a phone press conference which ended in total chaos…

According to our nonbinding sources and the audio (which I need to figure out how to upload), there were people talking on the phone at the same time as the Senators, there was background audio from people´s offices, questions were randomly asked at the same time, and even a super minor “disturbance” between some snotty gringa reporter that wanted all the questions to be asked in English, and a Hispanic media type who needed audio in Spanish, even if it was speaker phone crappy audio.

So apparently this was all duly noted and there will be change in Washington:

U.S. Senator Ken Salazar

FOR PLANNING PURPOSES

Sen. Salazar to Discuss His Efforts on Children’s Health Insurance and Veteran’s Mental Health

WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, the Senate is working on completing a package that works to expand health insurance coverage for children. With over 180,000 uninsured children living in Colorado , Senator Salazar supports expanding the children’s health insurance program. Under this legislation Colorado would receive $127 million for the program in 2008, providing $56 million more to Colorado than last year.

yada, yada, yada….
