Cuba Allowed to Join Most Useless Organization EVER

By La bloguera, June 3, 2009 5:49 pm

The place where long speeches by fake ambassadors and non-binding long winded resolutions go to die…yes the OAS!

Cuba Readmitted To OAS “Without Conditions”

SAN PEDRO SULA, Honduras — The Organization of American States voted by acclamation on Wednesday to revoke the 1962 measure suspending communist Cuba, overturning a landmark of the Cold War in the hemisphere.

“The Cold War has ended this day in San Pedro Sula,” said Honduran President Manuel Zelaya immediately following the announcement. “We begin a new era of fraternity and tolerance.”

The action doesn’t mean Cuba will return to the 34-member body that helps coordinate policies and mediates disputes throughout the Americas.

Cuban officials have repeatedly insisted they have no interest in returning to an organization they consider a tool of the United States.

This organizations is so non-important that Sen. Menéndez people didn´t even bother with an English version of his reaction:

DECLARACIONES DEL SENADOR ROBERT MENENDEZ SOBRE LA RESOLUCION DE CUBA EN LA OEA

Washington – El senador Robert Menendez emitió hoy las siguientes declaraciones en torno a la resolución sobre Cuba en Asamblea General de la Organización de Estados Americanos:

Happy Cinco de Mayo: Haciendas con bandera Jealous of Mexicans

By La bloguera, May 5, 2009 1:08 pm

As the gringos get all drunk-happy celebrating Mexican independence day, Cinco de Mayo, AP reminds us that the other dozens of Latinos in the U.S. are all offended, because unlike Black people, we all hate each other and are terribly offended if we are mistaken for a Dominican, Colombian, Cuban, Salvadorean, Venezuelan, Puerto Rican, Guatemalan, Argentinian Mexican.

On May 5, Mexican dominance irks other Latinos

By MANUEL VALDES, AP

SEATTLE – With mariachis, tequila and parades, Cinco De Mayo will be celebrated this week in parties across the nation, kicking off a commemoration of Mexican heritage in the United States as a pseudo-holiday that has been adopted by the general population.

But for Dagoberto Reyes, a Salvadorian immigrant living in Los Angeles, May 5 is more a reminder of the dominance Mexican culture has in a country that is home to immigrants from many Latin American countries. His prime example: Los Angeles-area public schools.

“Our kids go to this school system, and the school system is more preoccupied with Mexico’s history, and not the rest of Latin America’s, much less El Salvador’s,” said Reyes, director of Casa de la Cultura, a Salvadorian community center. “They came back celebrating Cinco De Mayo. That holiday means nothing to us.” (In El Salvador we celebrate Pulgarcito Day)

However, those in politics realize that even if they are Cuban and represent New Jersey, you will celebrate whatever group rules in numbers:

SENATOR MENENDEZ HONORS CONTRIBUTIONS OF MEXICAN AMERICANS IN CELEBRATION OF CINCO DE MAYO

Washington, DC – Today US Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ), chairman of the Senate Democratic Hispanic Task Force a champion for issues faced by the Latino community, joined millions of Americans in celebrating Cinco de Mayo and the important contributions of Mexican-Americans to the United State. This holiday marks the Mexican army’s defeat over the French army in 1862 and is a symbol of cultural celebration and pride.

Michael Steele Following in Mel Martínez’ Footsteps

By La bloguera, March 20, 2009 1:44 pm

I was trying to find the Latino angle in order to post this hilarious Colbert video about Michael Steele.

And of course that angle is Mel Martínez, who was head of the RNC for like 2 seconds before racist xenophobic GOP’ers ran him out of the place, despite the fact that he didn’t criticize Rush Limbaugh on TV. (at least that we know of, but we don’t watch that much TV)

So, now lets watch this hilarious video:

Latino That Took White Senator’s Job Swears To Kick Republican Ass, Shakes Fist To The Heavens, Nobody Listens

By Ticatecla, February 17, 2009 3:06 pm

Our very own Bob Menendez, usurper of the Schumer throne, is absolutely and completely sure that there will be a Democrat landslide. Because, you know, everyone will remember that all the country’s evils are still W’s fault. That and people always pay attention to the Senate. Right? Anybody? zzzzzzzzz…

A Leader in the Senate Sees Sunny Skies for Democrats

WASHINGTON — To hear Senator Robert Menendez of New Jersey describe it, Democrats are going to sweep the table in the Senate races next year.

Mr. Menendez, who took over as head of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee from Senator Charles Schumer of New York, saw only sunny skies as he looked ahead to the first Senate elections that will take place in the post-Schumer era.

Gay White Guy to Take Latino’s Job

By La bloguera, February 3, 2009 3:01 pm

OK people, we have certainly had enough white guys taking Hispanic jobs to declare it officially a stampede.

The most recent round involves Mel Martínez, the busiest Latino senator ever.

Martinez Eyeing Early Exit as Crist Looks at Senate Seat

In what could be a Sunshine State one-two punch, multiple Republican sources are confirming that Florida Gov. Charlie Crist (R) is giving serious consideration to running for Senate — and that Sen. Mel Martinez (R-Fla.) is contemplating resigning from his seat before his term is up next year.

Martinez has already announced he will not run for re-election when his first term expires in 2010. Crist, according to sources, has had multiple serious conversations about running for Senate with both Martinez and National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman John Cornyn (Texas).

This can only mean he wants to get back to Miami to be part of the celebrations when the next rumor of Fidel Castro’s death sends old people dancing in the streets.
