Loretta and Linda Sánchez’s Brother Believed To Be Dead

By Ticatecla, October 10, 2008 10:49 am

No joke here. It’s so very sad. Loretta and Linda Sánchez’s brother Henry Sánchez and his girlfriend Penny Avila are believed to be the dead found after a boat sank in Southern California…

Body found in sunken boat believed to be brother of Reps. Loretta Sanchez and Linda Sanchez

What happened that clear, moonless night in the Catalina Channel is still very much a mystery.

A Santa Ana couple were going for a midnight cruise to Santa Catalina Island, and a huge 128-foot barge was lumbering toward the Port of Los Angeles.

Sanchez vs Sánchez Catfight: Clinton vs Obama

By La bloguera, January 20, 2008 3:24 am

As you may have noticed along with all the Hispanic Nevada sleeping giant hoopla, we got a flurry of Hispanic endorsements, some from people we know, like our very own chief intelligence Hispanic, Silvestre Reyes (who took a Woman’s and Black man´s job) and some from Hispanics not even we have heard of.

But our favorite endorsement news comes from our favorite sisters in Congress, and ex-coconut caucus members, Loretta Sanchez and Linda Sánchez, who on the same day endorsed rival candidates.

Linda vs Loretta Sanchez

Hispanic Caucus… Minus Another Sánchez

By La bloguera, April 13, 2007 11:08 pm

Can´t we all just get along?

So why do these things happen when I am outta town and can’t update my blog?, well such is life…

So bye bye Loretta and now bye bye Linda.

We did report on the fact that all this is the fault of Cesar Chavez…but Linda is claiming that she is leaving the Hispanic Caucus for “structural reasons”, (i.e. Joe baca) she should have just used the Washington lingo and said she wants to spend more time with her family… even though she is single…

The story and if you want the official bs I am including both press releases:

STATEMENT FROM CONGRESSWOMAN LINDA SÁNCHEZ ON DECISION TO SUSPEND MEMBERSHIP IN CONGRESSIONAL HISPANIC CAUCUS

“I have decided to suspend my membership in the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) for the 110th Congress because I believe that the current leadership has not made needed structural reforms to ensure that the caucus is more equitable and inclusive of all its members.

Cesar Chavez is a Divider NOT a Uniter

By La bloguera, April 4, 2007 5:47 am

Now we have all been taught that Latino Saint and only real leader ever, Cesar Chavez was a man of peace who embodied the ideals of Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr., but now we learn that despite his nonviolence stance, his sole memory is causing further civil war between the Hispanic Caucus de facto leader, Joe Baca and the other Sánchez sister, Linda.

Si se puede

As we have mentioned extensively in this blog, one of the main missions of a Hispanic member of Congress is to name everything they can in honor Cesar Chavez, with a mural whenever possible.

WELL, now it turns out that the Cesar Chavez nonbinding Holiday has become the latest drama gripping the halls of the Capitol, according to the Hill, (Not the Politico, who no longer cover Hispanics):

Rep. Baca wags finger at Sanchez for closing office for Cesar Chavez Day

There is no affection between Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chairman Joe Baca (D-Calif.) and the Sanchez sisters — as the recent attempted coup against him made plain.

And Baca burned his bridges yet further on Monday by declaring that lawmakers should not take off work in honor of Cesar Chavez’s birthday, which was last Saturday. Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-Calif.) was the only member of the caucus to close her office Monday in honor of the Hispanic civil rights leader.

Baca had these choice words for her decision.

“Cesar Chavez worked his whole life toward achieving equality and fair labor rights. I believe the best way to observe Cesar E. Chavez Day is not by taking the day off from work or school, but by having our children learn about his struggles and his victories on behalf of all Americans,” said Baca.

“That is why I have introduced a resolution, H. Res. 76, to encourage teachers to teach our children about the life and work of Cesar Chavez, and urge the president to issue an executive order creating a public holiday for Cesar Chavez.”

So Baca wants the Presidente, a man, to declare the birthday of another man, Cesar Chavez to be a Public Holiday, that applies to everybody, except to women like Linda Sánchez… and then he wonders why they call him machista…

AND what is the use of a holiday that no one gets off… hello? it is not a holiday if we don´t get to go to Cesar Chavez day sales and can’t get our mail.

IN TOTALLY OTHER NEWS… do you know where your member of Congress is?… the article goes on to say this:

And Bob Sanders, spokesman for Rep. Jim Costa (D-Calif.), said of his boss, “He is out of the country, but because of security I can’t say why, where or for how long.”

Whaaaaaaa?, what on earth could a minor congressional member, like Costa be doing that requires all this secrecy and undisclosedness, leave that to Cheney….

The Caucus is Getting Back Together or Breaking Up More

By La bloguera, February 27, 2007 9:41 pm

Apparently, while everybody else is focused on Iraq, the members, and possible future ex-members of the Hispanic Caucus are engaging in “marathon” closed door non-binding negotiations to see if Baca in actuality called Loretta a whore or a puta, or if all the women should leave the caucus except Grace Napolitano, or if they should split up into 3 Hispanic Caucuses.

According to the Press Telegram

The leadership of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus could get a makeover…

The article informs us of another ultra minor squable we totally overlooked.

He [Baca] has admitted in published reports to having called Solis a “kiss-up” to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-San Francisco. Baca publicly apologized for the remark.

We also learn that 3 “unnamed males” have also threatened to quit if Solís and the other Sánchez sister leave the Caucus… Let me guess, Silvestre Reyes is not one of them.

And just when we think it is all lost, we find out this:

An aide for Solis has said that discussions include possibly splitting the chairmanship into three posts, each focused on different policy areas. Baca did not return calls seeking comment on the possibility of a three-chair leadership format.

(The article then goes on to inform us that the majority of the Caucus Members are either Mexican American or Puerto Rican… hello? they ALL are either Mexican or Boricua, except Solis who is only half Mexican, and the 2 non Hispanics that joined somehow)

(Can someone get Baca to answer his phone? And while we are at it, We NEED someone to bring the official Hispanic Caucus website out of its “renovation”)

So we totally can’t wait to hear the results of these super secret meetings, and as soon as there are “published reports” we will feel free to comment fully.

Meanwhile Baca tries to redeem himself with this lame press release
