Adiós, Blago: The Latino Angle

By Ticatecla, January 29, 2009 5:20 pm

Our most deliciously fiendish now ex-governor really deserves an honorary title, especially because of his close relationship with our most deliciously moustached Latinos in MSM.

It’s official! No more ridiculous quotes from Rod Blagojevich. Sadness.

Illinois Senate Votes to Oust Blagojevich

CHICAGO, Jan. 29 — The Illinois Senate voted unanimously Thursday to remove Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D) from office for abuse of power, ending a weeks-long impeachment ordeal that ranged between drama and farce.

One by one, Republicans and Democrats stood to call for the governor’s ouster, rejecting his last-minute pleas and criticizing him as a liar and a hypocrite.

And what is the Latino angle, you say?

The governor is always very charismatic, and he had some sense of contrition and apologetic tone to his speech,” said Sen. Martin Sandoval, a Chicago Democrat. “Nonetheless, it seems a little too late.”

Rep. Jack D. Franks and Rep. Susana A. Mendoza said they were surprised by the governor’s comments that FBI wiretaps showed nothing more than politics as usual.

“My jaw dropped,” said Mendoza (D).

THAT, amigos, is two token Latino quotes in one MSM article. BlagojeBITCH has been a total success.

Oh there’s also a video that I don’t know for the life of me how to embed.

Brown Man Begs Hopes Black Man Will Not Indict

By La bloguera, January 27, 2009 8:16 am

One of our favorite Hispanics, you know, the Mexican who lost his job to a white guy, has apparently recovered from his squash injury and is now hoping for some change he can believe in…

Alberto Gonzales: I Don’t Think Obama AG Will Prosecute Me

In his confirmation hearing Eric Holder, President Obama’s nominee for Attorney General, declared definitively that “waterboarding is torture.”

Former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, in an interview with National Public Radio’s “Tell Me More” Monday, said he was worried that “making a blanket pronouncement like that” might have a negative “effect … on the morale and the dedication of intelligence officials and lawyers throughout the administration.” (Gonzales probably knows something about bad morale at the Justice Department.)

Gonzales isn’t worried, however, about himself. While some have suggested that Holder’s statement paved the way for prosecution of administration officials who participated in torture, the ex-AG says it isn’t likely. More here

Of course since this interview was on NPR, nobody heard it anyway.

But his best interview so far was with another of our favorite Hispanics, Geraldo Rivera, except that Alberto GONEzales didn’t show up because of aforementioned whack in the eye.

Meanwhile… in other news…

Judas out of Obama Cabinet

By La bloguera, January 4, 2009 2:49 pm

Move over Blagojevich, we got our own scandal, minus the tombstone, thanks to the almost secretary of state, commerce,  and one of our favorite Hispanics, Bill Richardson López. Turns out he shaved his beard for nothing.

“I have asked the President-elect not to move forward with my nomination at this time. I do so with great sorrow” (nooooooooo!, this is great sorrow for us too, we have a whole category dedicated to Richardson López)

AND like 2 seconds later:

STATEMENT OF PRESIDENT ELECT BARACK OBAMA

It is with deep regret that I accept Governor Bill Richardson’s decision to withdraw his name for nomination as the next Secretary of Commerce.

Of course we had totally already suggested he wouldn´t be confirmed, but in case you want to know more than I am willing to post on a Sunday,  here is Richardson´s Statement

Obama Sets Coconut Record

By La bloguera, December 18, 2008 3:52 pm

Now that Obama has tapped Hillary die-hard supporter Hilda Solís, for Labor, it is time for all those so called “Hispanic Leaders” to stop their whining.  We now have a new Guiness world record of 3 Hispanics in a U.S. presidential-elect non-confirmed cabinet.  (Supposing Richardson gets confirmed).

AND not one of them is Cuban or Boricuan can you believe it?

This is a historic day for Latinos and I would like to congratulate this blog for making them famous enough to be considered.

Now if we could only find someone to do something about all the rampant hate crimes….
