Obama Sets Coconut Record

By La bloguera, December 18, 2008 3:52 pm

Now that Obama has tapped Hillary die-hard supporter Hilda Solís, for Labor, it is time for all those so called “Hispanic Leaders” to stop their whining.  We now have a new Guiness world record of 3 Hispanics in a U.S. presidential-elect non-confirmed cabinet.  (Supposing Richardson gets confirmed).

AND not one of them is Cuban or Boricuan can you believe it?

This is a historic day for Latinos and I would like to congratulate this blog for making them famous enough to be considered.

Now if we could only find someone to do something about all the rampant hate crimes….

Secretary Of Commerce = Where We Stick Latinos To Say We’re Diverse

By Ticatecla, December 2, 2008 5:48 pm

OK so he will be giving lots of conferences with businesses and such…our very own Bill Richardson joins the ranks of other famous three named (white) men such as Donald Louis Evans…and Carlos Miguel Gutierrez (oops).

Richardson Said to Be Obama’s Pick for Commerce Post

Dec. 2 (Bloomberg) — New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson is set to be named tomorrow as President-elect Barack Obama’s choice to become the next secretary of commerce, a Democratic official said.

Richardson, 61, ended his own bid for the Democratic presidential nomination in January and later endorsed Obama, calling him a “once-in-a-lifetime leader” who can unite the country.

Before being elected as governor of New Mexico in 2002 and winning a second term in 2006, Richardson was energy secretary and United Nations ambassador under former President Bill Clinton. He also served eight terms in the U.S. House.

AKA he’s been shafted. But what do our fearless leaders say?

Hispanics cheered the selection of one of their own for Obama’s Cabinet.

“We’re gratified,” Representative Charlie Gonzalez of Texas said. “Obama understands that Latinos bring in a certain perspective.”

WTF?! Overqualified Beaner May be Passed Over!!

By La Neta, November 13, 2008 9:54 pm

First it was talk of Boston Brahmin/presidential loser John Kerry on the short list for Secretary of State in an Obama administration, along with a slew of other white guys, when the entire world knows the most qualified person for that position is a Mexican American.

Probably the only beaner who speaks three languages coherently, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson can hang out with lunatics in North Korea, Venezuela, Cuba and gawd knows how many other places high and low.

And on top of that, he was a presidential candidate. Didn’t get far but his commercials were hilarious. And he gives good interview.

Chances of Winning Obama? One in 42 Million

By La bloguera, October 23, 2008 9:35 am

Who cares about the Free Trade Agreement with Colombia, when you can WIN THE LOTTERY????

Yes, in one of my favorite countries, Obama gives hope to millions who will end up loosing their money.

BOGOTA (Reuters) – U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama might be betting he can win November’s election, but he could really hit the jackpot in Colombia.

A Colombian lottery seller has printed Obama’s face on tickets hoping to snag attention while celebrating Afro-Colombians with a nod to the Democrat’s African heritage.

Reproduction released by the Meta Lottery department, central ...

Less than two weeks before the election, street vendors and stores in steamy Meta province are selling the lottery stubs showing Obama smiling in a suit and tie. The average weekly top prize for the tickets — around $300,000 (that’s in pesos, my friends).

The Tacocalypse Is Here

By Ticatecla, October 9, 2008 9:14 am

Forget the market crashing more and more every day! The clear sign of the apocalypse is more and more carne asada and mango street vendors popping up!

And for those of you that want more ties, the Latino politics angle here is that Bill Richardson said some stuff on NPR about how Latinos matter (ha!) in this election/ in New Mexico, which shares the first half of its name with New York, which brings us to…

How Mexican brown can do way more for you, you white hipster! Because, you know, it’s way nicer to enjoy street tacos at 2 AM than it is to pay attention to the mariachis on the subway or the parking attendant.

Top 10 signs of the New York taco-over

Big Apple rings suddenly passé. How about Big Enchilada?

The spectacular rise of New York’s Mexican community in the past two decades is one of the most fascinating demographic stories in a city used to sweeping population changes.

From an official census count of about 61,000 Mexican-born city residents in 1990, city demographers estimate that there are currently about 350,000 New Yorkers of Mexican descent.

Mexican mothers had more city-born babies last year than Dominicans, which had been, up to now, the largest immigrant group in New York. The city has been transformed, one tortilla at a time.

So basically there’s more Mexican babies now. And of course, here’s their biggest contribution (aka non-threatening stuff white people like about Mexico):
