Three Cubans Endorse a Panamanian For President

By La bloguera, February 3, 2007 8:34 am

In what for some reason is being called the “first big endorsement from the nation’s biggest battleground state”, Ileana Ros Lethinen, and Fidel Castro´s ex-nephews have endorsed Panamanian John McCain for president.

From the Miami Herald (apparently the only paper to cover this MAJOR endorsement from Third World Country Miami)

McCain’s campaign already has tapped a Miami political consulting team who worked for Gov. Charlie Crist’s campaign, Carlos Curbelo and Danny Lopez, to organize events and conduct Hispanic outreach. (We hope to be outreached to)

‘John McCain is strong on national defense and the security of the homeland, yet at same time he is sensitive to the needs of the nation domestically,” Ros-Lehtinen said. “He also understands the threats of the Castro regime.” (And will get a seat of honor for the party at the Orange Bowl)

Meanwhile, Back at The Hispanic Conference…

By La bloguera, February 2, 2007 3:53 pm

What a difference an election cycle makes….

Marion and Lincoln

Democrats are urged to address immigration

A comprehensive immigration overhaul and temporary protected status for Haitians should be government priorities, two Republican congressmen from Miami urged.

”We’re concerned because the Democrats . . . have given no signs of giving any importance or priority to immigration,” said U.S. Rep. Lincoln Díaz-Balart, a Miami Republican. “It’s time for the Democratic leadership to put up or shut up.”

Now, usually they would be joined in this effort by a bunch of Hispanic Democrats… but we all know what they have been up to lately.

Fortuño Creates Nonexistent New Committee

By La bloguera, January 29, 2007 3:53 pm

For all of you with any kind of inferiority complex or maybe you are afraid of coming to Congress, Puerto Rico’s pretend congressperson has created a new committee, the Reassures Committeeâ„¢, which will help you with your problems.

Comité de Reasuraciones y Oraciones

Formerly known as the Resources Committee, the new Reassures Committeeâ„¢ will specialize in empathizing with your problem, which will come in handy when you testify about an issue that will surely go nowhere, such as statehood or independence for Puerto Rico or universal healthcare…

But hey, he did succeed in getting 25 cents.

(We assume that his next action item will be to battle Roselló to see who gets their face on the peseta)

Tancredo Could Become a Hispanic

By La bloguera, January 29, 2007 1:39 pm

Despite the fact that presidente candidate Tom Tancredo totally ignored her invitation to visit third world country Miami, for “security reasons”, Ileana Ros Lehtinen continues to pursue him.

After his recent rant against the powerless Hispanic and Black caucus, Ileana decided to invite him to join the “Hispanic Conference” because they only have like 3 members now that Bonilla was booted out.

Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Miami, suggested Tancredo was welcome as an associate Hispanic conference member and wouldn’t be excluded “from a single meeting.

”Many of us are working together with other caucuses to make our great country even better,” Ros-Lehtinen said. ‘I keep welcoming Tom but some folks just want to be cranky. `Chill out, Tom. You need to spend some time in Margaritaville.’

We still don’t know if Tancredo will accept the invitation, we can only speculate, that as most people, he had no idea the Hispanic Conference existed.
