Candidates Debate in Spanglish on Univision: LIVE

By La bloguera, September 8, 2007 8:51 pm

OK
so here goes….

What happens in Miami stays in Miami...

Maria Elena Salinas…. in yellow starts off with Barack Obama, good move…

then Gravel says something about the fact that he spoke French WTF?

oh yeah I totally skipped Hillary who said some stuff, but she has a weird translated voice…

now Edwards…. something about immigrants in North Carolina

Richardson started in Spanish …. then back to English… so now they have a guy with an argentine accent translating for Richardson…. Hilarious…. Jorge Ramos tells Richardson NOT to speak in Spanish!!!!, First time Jorge Ramos tells someone NOT to speak Spanish during a “Spanish” language debate on a Spanish language TV channel.…. Richardson Lòpez complies…

back to Obama, who has a totally weird guy translating…

So Richardson again about how he would end the war in Irak in like 2 minutes, again with that argentine voice translator…

Now Gravel says something about Armando Soriano, a soldier whose father is being deported, so at least he knows one Latino…

and Dodd.. something about the Taliban

We speak Spanish but they don´t let us

Now we are on to Univisións favorite topic…. Immigration and México…. Obama please respond?

So now Dodd, who SPEAKS SPANISH, has a dude translating that speaks worse Spanish, whats up with that?

FINALLY some commercials!!!!! guess what???? Wal-Mart, calling cards to México, and some Univison American Idol rip off

I am liveblogging and skypecasting (and eating) at the same time, so don´t expect all that…

More from Liza at Culture Kitchen

So now we have questions from “the people” some Pilar Martinez …

Now Edwards unto something about Blockbuster…

Now Hillary about legalization bla bla bla

Back to Obama, with that weird translator voice….

More about immigration….. Gravel turning red again….

HILAROUSSSSSS, Richardson´s translator voice is a Hilarious ARGENTINE dude…. I know I say this every time he speaks, but I just can´t get over it …

So the guy translating for Edwards just said the wrong word, and then kept on talking long after the candidate stopped….

Obama finally brings up CESAR CHAVEZ!!!!

Richardson makes faces at Obama…. so much for that Black-Brown coalition

On to some stuff about Hugo Chávez, obvioulsy bad (AND obviously only because Jorge Ramos is still mad about Hugo Chávez walking out on an interview with him etc)

Looks like every one has a blue tie, and Hillary a blue dress….. yes it is that boring …

OK back to Hugo Chávez… is he a dictator???? what kind of stupid question is that?????? Hugo Chávez got a bunch more votes than Bush…

The question: Is Hugo Chávez a dictator and would you break relations with Venezuela… I know there are a bunch of anti Chávez types in Miami, but that question is ridiculous…. why doesn´t he ask if Pervez Musharaff is a dictator and if the U.S. should break off relations for them letting Osama escape???

SOOOOO now to CUBA!!!! and Fidel Castro …. So Hillary says some crap like Castro regime is almost over and then brings up her husband Bill…

Dodd says he will lift the embargo…

They guy translating for Kucinich sounds like a 90 year old Chilean...

Richardson making more faces….

Finally more commercials….. SURPRISE: Wal Mart again, I guess they had some tons of money left over from the 1 million they give to NCLR… then to Gloria Estefán about giving money to the victims in Perú, and now telenovela commercials

Obama´s translator dude is like a movie trailer guy voice…

RIchardson unto something about bureaucracy and stem cell research

Now unto health care, they all support it….

So finally Edwards mentions Bush!!!! where has all the Bush bashing gone???? just because they are in Miami, no need not to criticize him, the Republicans do all the time.

Every time Obama talks they show Richardson, I guess it is the first time they have a Brown and Black guy on Univision, because the rest of the time they only have Mexican blonds… (and I mean blond in the WIDEST possible definition)

OK finally the last question… What is the greatest contribution of Hispanics to the U.S? so they all say that a bunch of stuff like veterans, doctors, American Dream, unity, etc…

of course for US it is SALSA, Cinco de Mayo, Taco Bell, Eduardo Verástegui or Laura en America…

So it is finally over…. between the English audio, the translators with argentine accents, Jorge Ramos, and the closed captioning with people who can´t spell here is my conclusion….

Coming up as soon as I finish my beer….

Ok so here it is the post debate hang over.. .
