STOP THE PRESSES: White Media Discovers Mexican Hongos

Call them hongos or champiñones or some crazy Aztec name that we can all pronounce even though we’re straight descendants of la Reina Isabel, but turns out that some white MSM that no Latinos listen to is SHOCKED at the fact that we eat moldy corn. Delicious, delicious moldy corn. Or as white people call it, tar-like fungus. Buen provecho:

In Mexico, Tar-Like Fungus Considered Delicacy

In Central Mexico, locals are feasting on a unique delicacy that sprouts to life this time of year from the country’s corn fields.

It’s still called by its Aztec name, cuitlacoche (pronounced QUEET-la-coh-chay--ed.note: mwahahahaha!). The gray, stone-shaped fungus turns into a gunky, tar-like mush when cooked.

But it is revered by Mexican gourmet chefs and home-style cooks alike. The fungus — which some say has an earthy, tangy, mushroom-like flavor with a hint of raw corn — is a popular ingredient in soups and quesadillas.

I love that there were 7 minutes dedicated to this tianguis delicacy. Since there are more brown people now on the bench and we’re all Mexicans anyway,  México is so in, guys. So in.

  1. Alejandro says:

They (white people? sure.) need to discover pineapple on al pastor because that’s where it’s at. And customary to Style rags, ALL the cool restaurants will start putting pineapple on their pork after another 7 minutes, which is great for the entire world.

  2. [...] another piece of news that white people can get behind more than undocumented Mexicans behind a border wall. Like I said. [...]

  3. Fungus Lover says:

    it’s actually spelled with an “h” not a c…so it’s nor pronounced “queet-la-etc etc.” but rather “weet-la-co-che”
