Sí Se Puede: Black Prez on Blondes Only Brown People TV

By La bloguera, March 27, 2009 8:10 am

We have commented ad nauseam about the fact you will see more fake blondes and non-binding “white” people on Spanish language TV than one any other channel (including PBS). For example… Cristina, Maria Elena Salinas, Ana María Canseco, Lili Estefan and almost every last telenovela star ever.

So that’s why it was historic to have a Black man, in a role other than servant or maleante, appear prime time on Univision during that cheesy award show Premio lo Nuestro.

AND how cheesy was it? Imagine a mariachi inspired 80’s pop-bollywood production Miami style, minus the mariachi music.

Since I know you missed it, the red-carpet photos are worth a thousand words.

And since you probably missed the prez too, here is the video.

Who advised him to go on this exceedingly lame and cursi show, we have no idea, but good thing he didn’t understand the ridiculous comments that were made after his appearance.

However, we should note that his Spanish is better than that of most of the members of the Hispanic Caucus.

More coverage from Guanabee and from Mi blog es tu blog, apparently the rest of the blogosphere is busy with the economy and Afghanistan.

    nauseAM — 1st declension, accusative

But again, like Dan Quayle, maybe you didn’t learn Latin to be able to speak to Latin Americans. Eh, Bloguita?

That is what I have been saying all the time about Spanish TV. What is worse are the skeezers they find for spanish news stations or either they are forced to dress like a skeezer.

I need a better spell check!!! And since you brought up Dan Quayle… reminds me that the poor “potatoe” kid he tried to correct was/is Hispanic: William Figueroa. Maybe soon I can find a reason to post that story
