Mexican crap beer key in Belgian takeover of gringo crap beer
Yes, you thought it was Belgium that was trying to steal the all American so-called beer Bud Light, but guess what? As usual there is a Latino angle, and not just the wife of Panamanian John McCain… Turns out they still have to consult makers of super crappy so-called beer Corona.
U.S. brewer Anheuser-Busch Cos Inc agreed to a $50 billion takeover by Belgium-based InBev NV , a source familiar with the situation said Sunday, creating the world’s largest beer maker.
Adding another dimension to any deal was Mexico’s No. 1 brewer Grupo Modelo , which is 50 percent owned by Anheuser. The maker of Corona beer, which has the right to choose its partner, has not yet approved InBev for that role and the two brewers remain in talks, according to one person
familiar with the situation. Modelo declined to comment.(and BTW we just had a “surprise” resignation)

And it is not just a Mexican thing:
InBev, which was formed by the 2004 merger of Belgium’s Interbrew with Brazil’s AmBev, is based in Belgium and run by a mostly-Brazilian management team.
AND let us not forget that the owner of all this is the richest Mexican woman ever, who just happens to be married to the U.S. ambassador to Mexico, Tony Garza, and yes Laura Bush was at the wedding. (and I bet they didn’t serve Corona)
